OUR COMPANY

Prodigy Movies is actively seeking opportunities with international treaty co-production partners as well as hosting overseas productions looking to take advantage of the 40% Federal tax rebate as well as the various State incentives

Australia has signed co-production treaties with Canada, China, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom; and is a signatory to Memoranda Of Understanding (MOUs) with France and New Zealand. Cast and crew from member states of the European Union (EU) can be involved in co-production between Australia and its official Euorpean partner.

Prodigy Movies is a member of Ateliers du Cinéma Européen (ACE) – an international film producers’ association created in 1993 and based in Paris. ACE is dedicated to training and helping film producers co-produce with other countries. Now a prestigious
co-production club, it now also includes non-EU producers and organises workshops outside Europe.

OUR PARTNERS

Breakout is a joint venture between Prodigy Movies and the Adelaide-based Kojo post  & VFX Group.

The company’s first film was the Nick Robertson-directed thriller “The Pack”.

Ambience Entertainment is a Sydney-based feature film, television drama and children’s live action production company with the ability to create, finance, produce and distribute entertainment content that of the highest quality.

The company is headed by Matthew Street and Michael Boughen.

Ambience in association with Prodigy Movies are producing the a 6-part African thriller tv series “Rampage”

Lux Monkey is a Brisbane based production company headed by Murray Pope. He was executive producer VFX on “Moulin Rouge”, “Matrix Reloaded”, “Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire”.

Murray produced the $25M digitally animated children’s series “Animalia” for the BBC, PBS and Network Ten; and “Nim’s Island”.  

He now works as an independent producer.

Prodigy Movies is headed by Michael Robertson – a leading figure in the Australian film industry.

Prodigy Movies’ first production “Black Water” was the Aussie hit film of 2007 and the survival/thriller “The Reef” received accolades as “the scariest shark film since Jaws” placing the company at the centre of genre-filmmaking in Australia.

Michael is currently developing a slate of both high budget and ‘cutting edge’ low budget features and is a founding partner in the Chesterfield Offset Finance Company.

Michael directed the feature films – “The Best of Friends”, “Going Sane” and “Back of Beyond”. He established the TVC production company, Prodigy winning Cannes Lion,
Mobius, One Show New York, CLIO, AWARD, MADC and ATV awards and has featured as one of the worlds leading ad makers in Kodak USA’s ‘Commercial Makers”.

He is a graduate of the University of New South Wales, with postgraduate cinema studies at the University of Southern California. He is a member of the Screen Producers Australia and Ateliers du Cinéma Européen (ACE), an international association of film producers based in
